නාට්‍ය ශාස්ත්‍ර යනුවෙන් හැඳින්වෙන්නේ අභිවාහ්‍ය කලාවන් පිළිබඳ වූ සංස්කෘත ග්‍රන්ථයකි. මෙම ග්‍රන්ථය භරත මුණිවරයා විසින් රචනා කරන ලදැයි පැවසේ. මෙහි පළමු සම්පූර්ණ සම්පාදනය ක්‍රි.පූ. 200 සහ ක්‍රි.ව. 200 අතර කාලයට අයත් යැයි විශ්වාස කෙරේ. නමුත් ඇතැමුන් මෙය ක්‍රි.පූ. 500 සහ ක්‍රි.ව. 500 අතර කාල පරාසයේ ලියැවෙන්නට ඇතැයි සඳහන් කොට තිබේ.

On the other hand, chapters 28 to 36 from vol. 2 1961 are included in the web version whereas vol. 1 stops at chapter 27 and contains only a preliminary version of chapters 34, 35 and 36.
